Dubai Opera

In the heart of Downtown Dubai and at the base of the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, is Dubai’s first purpose built performing arts theatre and destination for entertainment productions, The Dubai Opera.

Dubai Opera was designed with an influence of traditional, local, wooden sailing dhows of the Arabian Peninsula, used by pearl divers of a past era. The signage and wayfinding for this iconic building was created to infer the interior of pearl shells with references to boat hull hardwood. External signage elements complimented the sweeping architectural forms.

It’s not everyday that we need to consult motor bike detailing experts to exact a paint finish for an opera house, but special projects require unique approaches in the design process.
